Find out which reset is coming.
“What am I missing that’s going to blow up in my face?”
Every year, something resets. Your staff leaves, the school starts running on you, or your board starts over. Fifteen minutes tells you which one is closest at your school, why, and one move you can make this week.

“What am I missing that’s going to blow up in my face?”
Every year, something resets. Your staff leaves, the school starts running on you, or your board starts over. Fifteen minutes tells you which one is closest at your school, why, and one move you can make this week.
You have probably said one of these out loud.
Principals describe it in the same words, in year one and in year twelve. Each line below is a reset talking.
When it is your staff.
“I feel like a substitute teacher in my own school.”
“Still at games, still having coffee with my staff, still the person parents wish was running the school.”
When it is you.
“Everyone who hired me thinks I’m more ready than I am.”
“Some days I genuinely wonder if I’m built for this.”
“I’m six months in and I haven’t heard from God in weeks.”
When it is your board.
“Every meeting feels like I’m being evaluated on criteria no one gave me.”
“I feel like I’m one complaint away from losing this job.”
And underneath all three.
“I can’t be honest with my staff. I can’t be honest with the board. I can’t even be honest with my spouse about how bad some days are.”
Every one of those is a normal response to a school that is hitting the reset. The assessment tells you which part to address so you can start building momentum.
Three things reset.
They feed each other.
Your staff leaves.
The people who know how the place works leave, and the knowledge leaves with them. You cover the gaps yourself because there is nobody else to do it.
You run out.
The school starts running on you. You can sprint for a season. Nobody sprints for a career.
Your board starts over.
A seat turns over and the new member arrives without the history. Decisions you already made get relitigated. The year you thought you were building on starts again.
What it asks.
Fifteen questions, no card. First, what has actually happened at your school in the last twelve months. Then twelve questions about how the school runs: your staff, your work, your board. Nothing about how you feel, because what has happened is better evidence.
What you get.
A results page, right away. Which of the three resets is closest. A score on all three, with a plain explanation of what each costs a school. And one first move. No PDF to wait for. No sales call.
What happens next.
Read it. Most principals find one line on the page they already knew and had not said out loud. If you want a second set of eyes on it, book a Reset Debrief. Sixty minutes with me, 89 dollars, and you leave with one decided move for the next ninety days.
Steve Barker.
I coach Christian school principals and the boards they answer to. I built this assessment because I kept watching the same thing take down gifted principals. A seat turns over, a teacher leaves, the budget conversation starts from scratch. The school quietly goes back to the beginning, and the principal absorbs the difference. Twenty-plus years coaching leaders, an executive pastor, and a lot of time in the room where it gets hard.
Does it work.
“His coaching has resulted in better efficiency, alignment, and decision-making across our organization.”
